What is Hojicha

Our Hojicha, also known as roasted Japanese green tea powder, is sun grown and made of finely ground tea from the first harvest of the Spring in May in Kagoshima, Japan.

Roasting the green tea leaves at high temperature after being steamed is what gives Hojicha its unique aromas. Which is naturally earthy, sweet with a beautiful reddish brown color. Hojicha has a light-caramel-like flavor with subtile sweetness and nutty undertones. Hojicha contains a lower caffeine level as compared to other Japanese green tea leaves.
